Speaker 3:Season 3, episode 12. Woo-hoo, yes.
Speaker 1:What's 12, Tink?
Speaker 3:Oh 12 in Spanish, Dosé.
Speaker 1:Dosé Season 3, episode Dosé, also known as 115.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:So good morning Tinker.
Speaker 3:Oh, good morning how you doing. It is a rough, rough, rough morning.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's the craziest weather out there. It sounds like there's a tornado.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's crazy weather and we're up super early.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 3:And I'm just not a morning girly Like that is just not how I roll.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I know, tink hasn't even had breakfast. I, on the other hand, had breakfast, did everything I need to do and I'm ready yeah, I don't get it. I'm just ready to go. Start the day fresh, so happy spring, yes. Happy second day of spring. Start the day fresh, so happy spring, yes.
Speaker 3:Happy second day of spring. Yesterday was the first day of spring.
Speaker 1:And it was terrible weather here in New York.
Speaker 3:The worst weather, I was like wow, welcome spring. You have no great qualities today.
Speaker 1:No, well, the only good quality is I guess the rain will help the little flowers.
Speaker 3:Yes, true, true.
Speaker 1:And apparently we do need rain, so whatever.
Speaker 3:Yeah, what else? Not much happened this week for Banter.
Speaker 2:How are you doing Belle?
Speaker 1:I'm fine, I'm okay Going, moving along, so being we already started bantering. Oh yeah, we also had St Patrick's Day. Hope we all had fun St Patrick's Day and had some Irish soda bread.
Speaker 2:Was that this week?
Speaker 1:Uh-huh Monday.
Speaker 3:Whoa, mm-hmm, I'm confused.
Speaker 1:And then spring was yesterday, thursday, here and then, oh yeah, of course, we had our weekly, we had our bath again and we had we did really fun TikTok, we played the drums. It was really fun. You should all try it. It was really fun, we liked it. Go check it out. I think you did better because your arms are longer, tink, and your hair is bushier, so it was funnier I think when you did it. Oh, okay, I'll take it. Yeah, I think you did good.
Speaker 3:Wow, thank you.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I did it, but my arms are short, so it's not funny like that. Okay, what else did we do? Oh, we had a couple of auditions.
Speaker 3:This week again.
Speaker 1:And we'll see if anything comes of any of those. But that's about it. It's been a quiet week, but let's see what's happening with our listeners. Our GPS uh-oh, it logged me out.
Speaker 3:Oh no.
Speaker 1:I know, don't you hate that?
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so GPS I'm still partially asleep. Yeah, she is, ignore her, We'll just keep going. Okay, here we go, ready for our new locations Leeds, leeds.
Speaker 3:Is that Ireland?
Speaker 1:Don't know. You can look it up as I go on.
Speaker 3:Is that the UK?
Speaker 1:It sounds like the UK, but who knows? Then there's Springfield, massachusetts.
Speaker 3:Leeds.
Speaker 1:And Budapest, budapest. I don't think she heard that one. I heard it.
Speaker 3:Budapest.
Speaker 1:Budapest, that's right.
Speaker 3:Wow.
Speaker 1:And this doesn't make sense.
Speaker 3:Leeds, United Kingdom.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, wonderful. And this doesn't I mean, I guess it does. New York is so big, it says New York, new York. We have so many listeners in New York, new York, so I guess it's a different territory.
Speaker 3:I think it's like New York, new York like Midtown Manhattan.
Speaker 1:A new listener joined from one of those locations.
Speaker 3:Someone joined from smack dab in the middle of New York, new York Times Square.
Speaker 1:So welcome Leeds, welcome Springfield, welcome Budapest and welcome New York. Those are our new listeners. And shall we go to top countries and territories again?
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:So this week's top countries USA holding strong at number one, germany number two, followed by Australia, france, ukraine is still in there and Japan is still in there. United Kingdom, taiwan, bangladesh, okay and Hungary.
Speaker 3:Nice.
Speaker 1:Nice Good.
Speaker 3:We're everywhere around the world.
Speaker 1:I know it's so cool, gps. Yeah Well, welcome new listeners, old listeners, everybody. We love you all. Happy Farideh. Happy Farideh, let's head over to Tinker for some pop culture.
Speaker 3:Poppin', poppin'. So pop culture. Should we start with the Queen? Just little updates.
Speaker 1:Well, of course.
Speaker 3:Okay, well, also this Monday on St Patrick's Day was the iHeartRadio Awards.
Speaker 1:Yes, it was.
Speaker 3:The queen won like a million.
Speaker 1:Yeah, she won more than anyone's ever won.
Speaker 3:I have to tell you though love you iHeartRadio. Those were some interesting awards. I was not very. I didn't really like them that much. Okay, and I didn't really like them that much. Okay, I didn't watch. But also she didn't show up After all that there was so much clowning within the Swifty community.
Speaker 1:There always is.
Speaker 3:So Taylor Swift did not show up to the iHeartRadio Awards, but she did make a video, yes, and in the video she is thanking everyone and she did make a video. Yes, and in the video she, you know, is thanking everyone and she's wearing a snake necklace.
Speaker 1:I know she's teasing everyone.
Speaker 3:Yes. So everyone's like look, it's the same type of snake necklace as the Reputation era. So everyone's thinking Reputation is coming.
Speaker 1:They've been thinking that.
Speaker 3:I know I'm like well, it's obviously obviously, like it's obviously coming at some point we recorded.
Speaker 1:She already did, I'm sure, but she's just waiting for some opportune time to drop it I don't know when I know it's very confusing.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I saw another theory that, um, apparently she's going to be announcing it or dropping it this Friday.
Speaker 1:I know, but I don't think 3-28. I know Everybody makes up everything 5-5., 6-6., 4-4. It's coming, but it never happens. So I don't know. The Swifties are really crazy sometimes. We love you Swifties, but just relax a little, let her do it Like you make predictions and everybody gets disappointed.
Speaker 3:Yes, and also Taylor Swift. Fans are convinced that Travis Kelsey filmed the iHeartRadio Music Awards acceptance speech.
Speaker 1:Oh, okay, why. They're convinced because Somebody had to do it for her.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and they're convinced that he filmed it and even made a cameo in her shiny trophy. And then, help the reflection on the award, one TikTok user captioned a video zooming. Oh my gosh, Hi Travis.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3:And it shows like a reflection of someone standing there, like in the reward Holding the video, the camera. Yeah, and everyone's like it's Travis, it's Travis. It's a tall person standing further back holding the camera out, like Trav did at one of her concerts. Looks very similar.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3:Everyone's fighting. Oh, it could be anyone.
Speaker 1:It really could be anyone. It could be her brother or her father too.
Speaker 3:It really could be anyone. It could be her brother or her father too. Yeah, but also Trav won the award for best cameo at the Arras tour.
Speaker 1:I know, I heard it just makes up awards to give out.
Speaker 3:I think yeah, I think so too. They should put us in then next time.
Speaker 1:Yeah what the heck yeah, what the heck Put us in then next time.
Speaker 3:Yeah, what the heck, yeah, what the heck, yeah, that's like our dream To be an official iHeart podcast.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I know, and they love us. They always have us with them. That's all yeah.
Speaker 3:It's going to happen.
Speaker 1:Mm-hmm Guys, make sure to share this video, this podcast, and like and review. Yeah, and then gossip pops will win best podcast at the iheart award.
Speaker 3:Yes yeah, that'll be great, that'll be awesome.
Speaker 1:Okay, so those are just the queen updates, nothing really yeah, and it was also on tv on saint patrick's day, isn't it?
Speaker 3:yeah, it was just like yeah, what was that?
Speaker 1:I don't know. I heard that too. Guys, there's creepy sounds. Did you hear that? It sounds like a growl, but it wasn't us.
Speaker 3:I'm confused, I don't know Whatever, anyway, okay.
Speaker 1:What were we saying?
Speaker 3:We were saying about the awards were on St Patrick's Day. Oh yeah, so it was weird. It was like corned beef, cabbage, irish soda bread and the IHAR radio awards. Yeah.
Speaker 1:And nobody wore green right.
Speaker 3:No, I didn't see anyone wearing green.
Speaker 1:There you go.
Speaker 3:Did you see JoJo's outfit?
Speaker 1:What was it? I don't even understand it.
Speaker 3:It reminded me of, like Sailor Moon, you know, like the, what's that? The Japanese cartoon.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah, yeah, Like the anime cartoons. Is that what it's supposed to be? I?
Speaker 3:have no idea. I have no idea what it's supposed to be. I have no idea. I have no idea what it was. It didn't make any like. I didn't see one story about it, so it's like I don't really know I've seen pictures and videos of her, but yeah, I saw that there's no.
Speaker 1:Oh, this is because, thing like last year, she did that crazy outfit with the the face paint like the kiss band yeah but okay, so we got that. Everybody understood that this was very strange. And how about you have to sit behind that? How do you see?
Speaker 3:there's a video I think it's on iheart um of it's a reel or a tiktok where the girl they show the girl sitting behind her.
Speaker 1:In real time.
Speaker 3:Yeah, in real time.
Speaker 1:Oh, could she see no?
Speaker 3:No, it had that sound. It's like yes, and it's just like when you sit behind Jojo Siwa or something.
Speaker 1:I don't get it. What was it? I can't see anything.
Speaker 2:I can't get it, what was it? Can't see anything.
Speaker 1:I can't even explain what it was if you haven't seen it.
Speaker 3:It looked like you took a huge ring, like from a gymnastics competition and like put it on top of your head. And wrapped hair around it and put hair around it.
Speaker 1:And there was something hanging in it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1:And then there was something on her head. I don't understand it at all. And then she wore baggy pants with like underwear showing on top and like matching bra top opened under a jacket or something. But I don't get it. What was that? Not one reporter asked what her inspiration was for this outfit.
Speaker 3:I'm looking now, I'm purposely just looking up, I just don't understand it. Okay, I see this one, because now we're going to make sense of it. Okay, yeah, she wore pastel pink boxers on the outside.
Speaker 1:Pink boxers, like men's underwear, hold on.
Speaker 3:She explained she intentionally chose the look because she wanted people to go. What the F is she wearing? I think I did that.
Speaker 1:Oh well, that worked.
Speaker 3:Well, okay.
Speaker 1:So what's the point and what is the look?
Speaker 3:My hair is like a statue. What? That's what she said. Her hair is like a statue what that's what she said.
Speaker 2:Her hair is like a statue, okay.
Speaker 3:Encourages fans to dress like nobody's watching. My message for anybody who wants to have fun in fashion is do it, yolo. I love how this like became a story now.
Speaker 1:There you go. Well, it is a story. For those who haven't seen it, just Google her name.
Speaker 3:She says wear the outfit, Do that thing Not needing approval is hot, it's baller and you can look good if you believe you look good.
Speaker 1:She did not look good, she looked crazy.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I don't. She's like the most confusing. She's just like this confusing person to me.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't get her either. She's crazy. She's crazy. I think she's a little kooky. But that's okay, she's successful, that's fine.
Speaker 3:You can be kooky and stuff. Yes, you can. It's always just you are successful. It's just a confusing thing to me.
Speaker 1:She likes costumes. I just don't understand this costume. I don't mind you wearing costumes, I just don't understand this one.
Speaker 3:That's all yeah, that's it, whatever, that's it Whatever. Yeah, made her happy and that's what counts.
Speaker 1:Can't imagine that thing on her head being comfortable.
Speaker 3:Oh, it must have been so heavy. It looked heavy, yeah, okay, should we really?
Speaker 1:get into the stories now. Well, we kind of started already.
Speaker 3:I know JoJo became a story sort of After the Queen, but it's okay.
Speaker 1:Well, because the Queen was a story at the I Heart with Harry. Well, we just always do a little recap of them.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you know. Yeah, okay, next story. Yeah, you're going to love this one.
Speaker 1:Oh boy.
Speaker 3:Meghan Markle claps back at scared podcaster with cheeky handwritten note okay, this is the. This is the craziest story and it completely legitimizes, like, all the disdain that you have for megan, or at least that's what I think okay, I would love to hear it.
Speaker 3:Excellent, confirming megan markle cheekily responded to podcaster amanda hirsch after the latter shared she was scared about the hate the actress would receive for her new netflix series with love. Megan, the not skinny but not fat host, took to instagram, wed to share a photo of Duchess of Sussex handwritten note she sent two weeks after her show released. Okay, this is what the note read Dear Amanda, I heard you were feeling scared. Don't be. This is the fun part. Let's enjoy it. Meghan Markle wrote oh, my Duchess. Amanda Hirsch captioned the post, which included a screenshot of her original scared comment shared under a trailer for Markle's series. The influencer saw the note as an honor and wrote via her story that she was framing the parchment Beyond shook, beyond spiraling. She said dude, I smell the paper. Yes, do I want my own monogram? Yes, am I absolutely flabbergasted and obsessed? Yes, megan, you have a fan for life. And there's a picture of the note that Megan sent her handwritten.
Speaker 1:She has a fan for life now because she got a note, but she wasn't a fan prior.
Speaker 3:No.
Speaker 1:Okay Well, Megan, just putting it out there. If you send me a note, it's not going to change my opinion. Just putting it out there. If you send me a note, it's not going to change my opinion.
Speaker 3:That wouldn't change my opinion, calculated, but well, no, I don't think it changed. Well, this is like a. I feel like there's so many, I don't know. This is really strange. Why would she send this note? Like that's the biggest question for me. It's like it really bothered her that much that she had to write a handwritten note and like send it to this girl.
Speaker 1:But all she said was don't be scared. This is the fun part, what I said was don't be scared.
Speaker 3:This is the fun part. Well, it seems like there's underlying meaning in it.
Speaker 1:Obviously yes, but why would you do that?
Speaker 3:Tell you Something a little off there, yeah, but I think it's more of like the girl pissed her off so she decided to like go back. What is it? Kill like, kill with kindness, kind of scare her, like. That's what it seems like to me, and now she has a fan.
Speaker 1:So the girl wasn't a fan, actually a fan.
Speaker 3:Unless. Well, she's not. She's just like backtracking.
Speaker 1:I don't know Very strange. But like why, megan, she's not? She's just like backtracking. I don't know Very strange.
Speaker 3:But like why, megan, would you do that? I feel?
Speaker 1:like it makes Megan look like worse.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I agree Like she shouldn't have said anything, and why is it a handwritten note? This is so strange.
Speaker 1:I guess it's the first person who gave her enough attention, I don't know. But, like everyone in this business knows, like you don't respond to anything because just let it go. And any publicity is good publicity, but let it go. But she's one of those people who can't let things go, I think, and has to go back at the person. Go back at the person.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:She can't just let it go Like if she hears something she's like I'm going to tell him I'm going to. You know, like one of those kind of people.
Speaker 3:I'm going to make her feel bad. Let me write this passive aggressive note. That's really bad.
Speaker 1:And Let me write this passive, aggressive note that's really bad, and send it. Well, you haven't changed my opinion, that's for sure Megan. And you and your fake show stealing recipes from everyone else, but I just handwritten. Yeah.
Speaker 3:Like she went out of her way To handwrite a note Like she couldn't have emailed, or like put a comment under her thing like it was.
Speaker 1:It's so weird very weird, so weird. She also must have a lot of time on her hands I know, yeah, but oof not a good look no, just not a good look on your bad list, mm-hmm yeah.
Speaker 3:Completely Okay. Next story Next story.
Speaker 3:Okay. Snow White star Rachel Zegler backtracks comments about weird original film after major backlash. Film after major backlash. Rachel Zegler expressed what an honor it was to play Snow White in her new live-action film. After calling the original 1937 film weird. It was the honor of a lifetime. I think every young person dreams about a phone call like that. This one is certainly extra special as a huge Disney fan. Zegler continued praising the film and said to get to bring her to life in such a unique way and such a special way. It's just a beautiful opportunity and I'm very honored. So the actress also addressed the modern spin that she and her co-stars gave the remake. It's all about bridging a classic to a modern age to bring it to these beautiful young people. Her superpower remains her heart. You know that's always been the core of this story. That's always been the core of the Disney company. Zegler gushed about the film and that it's for both children and the inner child in all of us, and that it's for both children and the inner child in all of us.
Speaker 1:So this is the message that she shared after previously facing backlash for calling the animated version weird and extremely dated. What? Okay, she's another one. She just needs not to talk. I don't know how she's always in this drama.
Speaker 3:I know she said the original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so. There's a big focus on her love story with the guy who literally stalks her Weird, weird. So we didn't do that this time.
Speaker 1:Oh boy, so yeah. So she's making fun of a Disney classic that she's got lucky enough to star in yeah, well, this was in 2022, oh um, and then in 2020.
Speaker 3:In 2022, she also admitted that she was scared of the original cartoon and only watched it once but now it's like she's scary. So yeah, that was scary. I remember that when I was little the witch thing was really freaky yes, very scary, but I. She just went through some media training obviously because she's changed her whole perspective of what she says about the movie from two years ago, three years ago now she's doing the media tour and they're like you.
Speaker 1:She says about the movie from two years ago, Because Three years ago Now she has to go on the she's doing the media tour and they're like you can only say this and had to then, I guess, script her with what she can say, Because for some reason she's always surrounded with craziness.
Speaker 3:Yeah, she just puts her what is it called? Foot in her mouth. Yeah, Often. Yeah, there's a lot of that for her.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 3:I think she's learning and it's hard, it's very stressful, yeah, yeah, and sometimes you think you're saying you're saying something that is the right thing to say, but then it's just taken in the wrong context and it's misconstrued, and then everyone just comes at you or it just comes at you comes out yeah, or you just say it and you say it the wrong word or something, yeah yeah, that's.
Speaker 1:She's always surrounded, though always still working well, yeah well.
Speaker 3:This movie is like has been crazy, so it's finally out I know, I don't know if I want to see it. It's been redone a thousand times well, from the reviews that people have put on tiktok yesterday, the rotten tomatoes are pretty rotten oh okay, so I don't want to see it I don't know. I like I just love a disney movie to begin with, so well, do the dwarves sing apparently everyone sings oh, they do.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh, okay, I would like to see it like I love all disney movies, so I'm down I love that disney ride the mine train oh yeah so that's excellent, yeah, so I'm always down to see it, do?
Speaker 3:I think it's going to be good. Probably not, probably not, but we'll enjoy. Yeah, maybe we'll go see that.
Speaker 1:Okay, we'll find a day.
Speaker 3:We'll find some time. Okay, next story yes, okay, so this is the big news of the week. Uh oh, the astronauts are back. Yes, okay, so this is the big news of the week. Uh-oh, the astronauts are back.
Speaker 1:Yes, they're back. Yay, elon sent his SpaceX to save them.
Speaker 3:Yes, sonny Williams and Butch Wilmore have returned to Earth.
Speaker 1:Yes, they crashed down this week, finally, those poor people. It took 17 hours to fly back from the space station down to Earth. Did you know that?
Speaker 3:That's wild 17 hours. Wow.
Speaker 1:That's a long flight in that little seat. Yeah, what the heck did they do? You can't move, you have to sit in that little seat.
Speaker 3:Did they just like I would have just like slept.
Speaker 1:I don't know if they can sleep because I think they have to work. Controls and all right.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 1:Right, aren't they working.
Speaker 3:I guess. So Well, on that note about working, do you know how much they made they earned during that nine-month stay? No, At the space station.
Speaker 1:Oh, so they earn money like per day. They're up there or something. That's how it goes.
Speaker 3:Well, I don't know, I guess, like, how much do you think that they made in overtime? I don't know, how much an astronaut gets, oh that candidate's overtime, Like because they were stuck in space.
Speaker 1:Oh wow, they're bazillionaires then. Oh wow, that's a lot of overtime.
Speaker 3:Well, how would you react if I said no?
Speaker 1:Wait what.
Speaker 3:They didn't cash in on any overtime while stuck in space. What they didn't cash in on any overtime while stuck in space. In fact, the two experienced astronauts who returned to Earth March 18th after nine months in orbit some 278 days beyond what they had planned were paid their standard salaries. When NASA astronauts are aboard the International Space Station, they receive regular 40-hour workweek salaries. Nasa told People they do not receive overtime or holiday weekend pay.
Speaker 1:You got them stuck up there and not giving them overtime. What the heck.
Speaker 3:And while they have an out-of-this-world career, astronauts are still considered federal employees and are given the standard travel amenities.
Speaker 1:What amenities? They had nothing up there.
Speaker 3:While in space, nasa astronauts are on official travel orders as federal employees, so their transportation, lodging and meals are provided.
Speaker 1:Oh, how kind of them.
Speaker 3:They also are on long-term tdy temporary duty and receive the incidentals amount for each day they are in space. The incidentals amount is reduced by the percentage required for the length of the trip per federal travel regulations. So, while their salaries have not been revealed, the pay rate for astronauts falls under the federal government's gs11 gs14 pay scale, which estimates their salary ranges from being 84 000 to 152 000, depending on their experience.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh. Well, I'm sorry, they should have given them quadruple overtime per day.
Speaker 3:Wait, hear this Because it's just bad. Yeah, so as for incidentals, according to a fellow astronaut, katie Coleman, it could be as little as a couple bucks a day. There is some small amount of money per day for incidentals that they end up being legally obligated to pay. You, she said, and in 2010, 2011, for me, it was around $4 a day. So then people said how?
Speaker 1:What do you do?
Speaker 3:with that money. So, Butch and Sunny, if you apply that amount so they made maybe an additional $1,144 being stuck in space.
Speaker 1:What the heck. And now the poor things have to stay, I think, in the hospital because now their bodies, this is going to take some time for them to regulate again. And I saw a picture. Did you see the picture? Where you of them coming out in the stretchers well, no, after I think it was after the um, she has like an IV in her arm.
Speaker 3:Well, I think so. You have to like be hydrated, right? Yeah, but they didn't want you to see it.
Speaker 1:It was like under her sleeve, but when she shook hands with someone it was visible. So now everyone's like what is that about? And then she was up there doing all this and all they talk about is her hair.
Speaker 3:I feel bad for her, yeah, but I just don't understand. Like well, ok, they were stuck in space, can they like sue NASA at?
Speaker 1:this point Exactly. What is the contract you were supposed to? Be up there for eight days.
Speaker 3:I mean, are you, when you're an astronaut, do you just sign your life away?
Speaker 1:Well, I remember one interview, a couple months ago I think, when they were up there floating around and they were doing an interview and they're like well, this is the life of an astronaut, this is what happens. That's what they were saying.
Speaker 3:You have to be a special type of person.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I, I don't, I could never do it, and apparently it does something to your eyes yeah, apparently it does a bunch of things.
Speaker 3:Yeah, your bones your eyes.
Speaker 1:Oh gosh, you come back. You have bone loss, you have some. It changes the shape of your eyes or something weird and creepy Like there's all of these things.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I could never be an astronaut.
Speaker 1:These paws and this fabulous fluff? Oh no, we would never survive, oh no, and we would need provisions.
Speaker 3:It's just not something I could ever do, but I could not believe coming back after being stuck for so long and it's like there's no, there's nothing.
Speaker 1:A thousand dollars. Talk about a big party. At least they should give them.
Speaker 3:They need a party. They need like therapy.
Speaker 1:Well, they're going to need therapy, that's for sure. They need a mansion, they need a yacht, they need, they need a vacation. Yes, they need their own wing in the White House.
Speaker 3:Like I wonder, I don't know. I mean, I guess you can sue NASA, unless, no, maybe they're fine with it, they're happy with it.
Speaker 1:I don't know, but nobody could get a space anything up there to rescue them.
Speaker 3:And then yeah, and they're like this is what space is gets it up, does it?
Speaker 1:yeah so how did that happen? Too like you have people up there and you can't get them. I don't know yeah, there's something we're missing there too.
Speaker 3:I know.
Speaker 1:I don't get it, but I'm so happy they're home, because Me too, but I know they're going to be going through a lot right now.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's a really intense transition.
Speaker 1:And his daughter's on TikTok. Did you see her? I know? Yeah, I did see that yeah.
Speaker 3:The daughter's on TikTok. Did you see her? I know? Yeah, I did see that the daughter's on TikTok.
Speaker 1:Yeah and she's like so what's it like with my dad being stuck in space and she talks about it.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so welcome back. Glad they're rescued finally.
Speaker 3:What a craziness. Yes, okay, I have one last story go for it. So this is very niche, but not that niche. It's about shonda rhimes, the woman who wrote like and started gray's anatomy yes oh which, by the way, definitely well. Well, I don't know if you listeners know, but us gossip pups are a little obsessed with Grey's Anatomy lately.
Speaker 1:Well, because there's not much on. So, we've been watching that I don't know what it was until Tink told me.
Speaker 3:I introduced Belle to Grey's Anatomy. We started from the very beginning.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we watched one episode a night and we have. Now we're up to season 10?.
Speaker 3:No, I think we're up to season 11. Wow yeah, so we've been very dedicated to Grey's Anatomy lately.
Speaker 1:Well, guys, when you're bored, you need something.
Speaker 3:And yeah, it's so strange because it's like a comfort show, but it's not because, like it's so, it's so intense.
Speaker 1:This is what I always do don't look, dick, don't look, because every time they go in surgery and they're gonna cut, so do something, I'm like, don't look dick, don't look.
Speaker 3:It's like you know there's so much trauma, there's so much like sadness and, like you know, medical stuff and it. It can get like really intense but at the same time it's like really comforting because the characters are great.
Speaker 1:They help people, yeah, I.
Speaker 3:I like it and it's funny and like whatever. But anyway, so that's a little tidbit. Us gossip pups are Grey's Anatomy obsessed right now, but Shonda Rhimes, who also, you know, she did Bridgerton, she's doing and a bunch of other shows, let's.
Speaker 1:How to Get Away with Murder A bunch of shows get away with murder.
Speaker 3:A bunch of shows, anyway. She um was interviewed and she said that the Grey's Anatomy cast is still traumatized by Isaiah Washington scandal. So Grey's Anatomy creator, shonda Rhimes, looked back on the scandals that nearly ended the medical drama in its early days, including Isaiah Washington's use of a homophobic slur. So I was always trying to explain to you about how the character of Preston Burke, why he left yeah, remember. Okay, well, now she's talking about it, so you'll get the tea. So Shonda Rhimes is reflecting on the early days of gray's anatomy. The shondaland creator who has gone on to create scandal bridgerton how to get away with murder under her company recently detailed how she thought an early onset incident was nearly the end of the medical drama.
Speaker 3:In 2006, isaiah washington, who portrayed preon Burke on the ABC series, got into a physical confrontation with co-star Patrick Dempsey, which included the use of a homophobic slur toward co-star TR Knight and ultimately led to Washington's firing. After the incident, rimes feared the fallout was going to kill the show. I think the thorn was having the bubble of joy burst so early on Grey's with the Washington incident, wow, and not having anybody interested in helping us deal with it, because that really shaped a lot of how we looked at the world going forward. She added because that really shaped a lot of how we looked at the world going forward. She added it's funny every Grey's character I talked to who was there during that time is still traumatized by that incident. People still talk about it.
Speaker 3:After initially denying his use of the homophobic slur, washington admitted he had used the word and apologized in a 2007 statement to the showbuzz. Per CBS News. Despite the apology, abc chose not to renew Washington's contract in 2007, and the network declined to comment further regarding his exit. While Washington's controversy rocked Rhymes and the show's cast, it wasn't the only drama the show, which began in 2005, is now in its 21st season, had to tackle heading on In 2008, series star Katherine Heigl removed herself from Emmy's consideration because of what she believed to be a lack of quality material.
Speaker 2:Ooh.
Speaker 3:Yes. So following the early scandals, Rimes explained she had to shift her perspective as the showrunner. It was certainly not a challenge I was looking for. It was also not a challenge I expected when we partnered with Mark Gordon and Betsy Beers, I remember thinking, well, they'll have to deal with all that stuff and I'll just write and later realizing that's absolutely not the way it works. She soon learned if you are the creative brain, you not only have to share your brain with other people, but also everybody looks to you as the leader. I had to figure out how to be a great leader and that took a while. And while there's certainly been drama behind the scenes, you can find out everything about Grey's 21 seasons, etc. But yeah, there's a lot of like news circling now about Grey's Anatomy, especially because Ellen Pompeo is in this new TV show on Hulu.
Speaker 1:Is it a TV show or a movie?
Speaker 3:It's a TV show on Hulu, and so she's been doing like a lot of rounds of like press and stuff. But that explains why the Burke left.
Speaker 1:All of a sudden, he was gone.
Speaker 3:One day I told you there was some kind of drama. Apparently that happened with the George character.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like there he goes. You're like, yep, that's the end of him. He doesn't come back again. It's just like they leave their end. They don't come back again. It's just like they leave their end. They don't come back again the next episode.
Speaker 3:It's done yeah, well, this is what I find strange, though.
Speaker 1:So he was fired yes and everything, but then, as we saw, because we just watched season finished, season 10 they had him back just for one episode and, if you notice, there was no one involved that day except for chris, the christina character yeah there's no other character in that scene because he's supposed to be in netherlands or wherever azuric yeah, so no one had to deal with him except for her. Yeah, but what's her name? Sandra O. Is that her name in real life?
Speaker 3:Um no, yeah, Sandra O, yeah, sandra O.
Speaker 1:She's the only one who had to deal with him, so you knew something was wrong.
Speaker 3:Well, not that it was wrong, but like you get fired but then you get brought back. That's sort of a little strange to me.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't know Like I would have figured out another way to have the Christina character leave without having to deal with him. Although it was two episodes he did right, I thought it was.
Speaker 3:I don't know if it was two or one. Oh no, maybe it was two because it was like the end of the episode he like spoke and like was two because it was like the end of the episode he like spoke and like they showed it was him. And then everyone's like oh, and the next episode you like found out.
Speaker 1:So it was like two, he got two and he's getting residuals on those for being a bad person.
Speaker 3:Yeah, but I mean, I mean I'm all about forgiveness and he probably I mean, but at the same time it's not like a good look to have him come back, to have had him come back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't know. Obviously there's a lot of mistakes that happened on that show.
Speaker 3:Weird.
Speaker 1:Which is why a lot of the characters, like you said, left and quit, so yeah. But it's good watching everybody, so it gives you something to watch.
Speaker 3:Yeah, if you need something to watch or to binge, you can definitely try that. Yeah, am I up? And that is the end of my pop culture.
Speaker 1:All right, so here we go. Good job, Tink. Going on to pop culture for today.
Speaker 3:Time for some pop culture.
Speaker 1:This is a fun one. Medieval city breaks Guinness World Record for the parade of 897 dachshund dogs. What yeah? A city in Germany, Hello.
Speaker 3:Germany. We have followers that listen to us there.
Speaker 1:We love you. A city in Germany had a howling good time and now it's getting rewarded for it. The medieval town of Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Germany, recently learned its events. Celebrating dachshund dogs broke a Guinness World Record. The town's local museum, the Rensenberg Dekkel Museum, known for its quirky collection of over 4,500 pieces of dachshund memorabilia, hosted the parade for dachshund and their owners and enthusiasts. Okay, want to see a picture? Yeah, ha ha, ah. Funny. Okay, want to see a picture? Yeah, ha ha, aww, funny. Okay.
Speaker 1:Guinness World Records recently confirmed that at least 897 dachshunds attended the dog parade. Some counts indicated that 1175 of the beloved canines were present and marched along the historic streets of the town. The number 897 is enough to earn Regensburg the Guinness World Record for the largest dachshund walk. Yes, they got to participate in a variety of activities for the day dressing in traditional clothing, waving dog banners and singing with a marching band. So look at all the people on the bridge crossing with their dachshunds. So that's, they all went there. That's like in Colorado, the Golden Town the goldens all travel there. So I wonder if any United States dachshunds went to go to this.
Speaker 3:Probably I mean. Germany is a very pet-friendly country.
Speaker 1:I know they wanted us there.
Speaker 3:I know we won't talk about it. No.
Speaker 1:But that's amazing. So go dachshunds, go Germany. You did it Excellent so cool. Next story.
Speaker 3:Next story Next story Mm-hmm, let's do it.
Speaker 1:Woman rescues dog tied up outside for 12 years after owners ignore her plea to surrender. It was now or never. Wait Dun-dun-dun 12 years outside.
Speaker 1:Uh-huh, dun-dun-dun, here we go. Sometimes doing the right thing can be a tough thing. Dareth Murphy learned this when she rescued a dog stranded out in the cold. Murphy tells people how she was able to muster the strength to save a dog from being left outside for more than a decade. I first noticed the dog chained outside a little over two years ago. First noticed the dog chained outside a little over two years ago. My brother lives on the same street and I remember first noticing him when we visited for Christmas in 2022. In West Virginia, where Murphy lives, the state law claims an owner must provide access to adequate shelter. By the state's definition, that means it must be in an area out of direct sunlight with enough room to sit, stand, lie and turn around. The area must also offer access to food and water.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Murphy took it upon herself to find out more information about the situation before taking action. I wanted to find out if he ever goes inside, how old he is, how long he's been out there. A neighbor recalled when they got the pup back in 2011. It wasn't long before he was chained up, murphy shares. A neighbor cut a hole through his fence to slide plates of food to the dog. It was heartbreaking to know how long this had been going on and I couldn't go another day without him there. I had to sneeze. Sorry, bless you, belle. Thanks, it's my allergies.
Speaker 1:Today, murphy tells people that she decided to act after hearing stories. She devised a plan to contact the owners and get them to surrender the dog. In the morning, and with barely any sleep, I decided to knock on the door and ask for surrender. After a few minutes, I walked back to my car in defeat. The next morning I returned with no answer. Yet again, I thought about taking him and leaving a note, but fear got the best of me. Murphy recalls. On the third morning, I knocked, walked around the property, determined to make contact with the owner. Once again, no one came out the door. I knew it was now or never, so I unchained the dog in broad daylight and guided him to the getaway car.
Speaker 3:This is intense. It's like a whole mission, yeah.
Speaker 1:Murphy describes the emotions she was feeling when she rescued the dog now named Buddy. It was quite an adrenaline rush. It was never my plan or intention to take him. I wanted so badly to ask for surrender, to promise to give the dog a better life with his golden year. She said. After years of seeing this go on in my state, I just couldn't take it anymore. And she originally posted about the dog on facebook looking to get um either answers or solutions. Uh, when a retired couple reached out offering to help and adopt the dog, if.
Speaker 1:Murphy was able to get it and have it surrendered to her. Once Murphy got the dog in her car, she drove him directly to the couple where they bathed him, set up a vet appointment and her TikTok about the experience has more than 5 million views and 900,000 comments. Whoa Buddy's journey with this new couple hasn't been easy, as he had ongoing medical issues that were, of course, untreated. During his first vet vet visit they discovered he had urine in his blood from an untreated uti. He was not neutered. He tested positive for lyme disease because he spent years gnawing on a heavy metal chain. It was most impossible to determine his true age from his teeth being almost completely grind down, oh my gosh. So the story goes on a little bit longer. But he is great, he is fine. Here he is in a home of these new people, and no word from the people who left him on a chain outside every day.
Speaker 3:That is insanity.
Speaker 1:How do you do that?
Speaker 3:Wow, what an intense story, though. Yeah, they got like every detail.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, it's fabulous. I love it. The suspense, dun dun dun.
Speaker 3:Love it. I'm glad that he's laying in that dog bed.
Speaker 1:He's good and indoors and happy. For, finally, the poor thing. They show a picture of him. He was in the snow, shivering like on a chain. He had nowhere to go for anything, shelter, cover, nothing moving on. Labs denied the top spot on the most popular dog breed list again after a 31-year run. Oh are Papatis denied too, american Kennel, the world's largest purebred dog registry revealed Tuesday that the French Bulldog is the most popular breed for a third year in a row.
Speaker 3:That's true, we know that.
Speaker 1:Yes, they're everywhere.
Speaker 3:They love the Frenchies.
Speaker 1:Yeah, exactly, they were named the leader of the pack for the last three years. Before the French Bulldog took over the top spot, the Labrador Retriever had held this position for 31 years in a row. Whoa, can you imagine? So the Frenchies are taking over. Frenchies are taking over the world.
Speaker 3:Wait, but the Lab is like not even on the list at all anymore.
Speaker 1:He is. He's moved down to number seven.
Speaker 3:What's number two?
Speaker 1:Let me see if they give the whole list Shih Tzu or Golden Retriever. They don't give the whole list.
Speaker 3:Oh well, what?
Speaker 1:the heck. It's just about how they're not as popular anymore. I want to hear the whole list. They're not as popular anymore. I want to hear the whole list.
Speaker 3:The registrations for that breed have decreased 414% in the past decade.
Speaker 1:Whoa, Isn't that crazy. So yeah, there is a whole list out there, but it's not on this article right here yet. But I just have one more thing.
Speaker 3:I know that was my third story but I just got one more thing, because I just found popular dogs of 2024 okay what I'm looking here.
Speaker 1:Okay good, I can't get it so I found, oh, I see oh.
Speaker 3:Wait, it says number one is Frenchie, and then followed by Labrador Retriever.
Speaker 1:Number two. They said it was seven, but it doesn't matter.
Speaker 3:Wait. Number seven says that it's Bulldogs. Bulldogs, no, beagles are number seven. Beagles, bulldogs are number.
Speaker 1:We're not on the list because we're not an AKC breed, we're a mix.
Speaker 3:It's so intense. Golden Retriever's third we knew that they're popular Goldies. Then German Shepherd.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 3:And then Poodle.
Speaker 1:Oh, interesting. Okay, so before I end my pop culture for today, I just found this little article. It was actually by Fox 5, new York. So shout out Fox 5, new York, top puppy names by state. Oh, so it shows this interactive map here. Well, we know that. Bella is like a really popular one, bella's number eight by state, though, yeah.
Speaker 3:Oh, you're going by.
Speaker 2:New.
Speaker 3:York.
Speaker 1:Leading the pack. So Luna is the top puppy name in 18 states. Did you know?
Speaker 3:that? Yes, I knew that the moon. And this is a puppy name in 18 states. Did you know that? Yes, I knew that the moon.
Speaker 1:And this is a compilation of all the states. So leading the pack, luna was ruled the top puppy names in 18 states, surpassing the next closest contender, which is Daisy Okay. Second place, daisy is the most popular name in Kansas, kentucky, maine. And third place is Charlie Okay, okay, I'm bored by these names Most popular names Luna, daisy, charlie, milo, cooper, lucy, penny, bella, teddy and Winnie.

Speaker 2:Oh.
