Speaker 1:

Hi, I'm.

Speaker 2:

Tinkerbell the dog, and I'm her little sister, belle, and this is our podcast.

Speaker 1:

Fierce fabulous fluff talking about stuff, gossip Pups. Fierce fabulous fluff talking about stuff, gossip.

Speaker 2:

Pups. Happy Friday everyone. I'm Belle and welcome to Gossip Pups, season 2, episode 31, also known as 83. So happy Friday everyone. Sorry that we're going up a little bit late, but it's been a crazy busy morning and human was in charge of getting some bookings for me.

Speaker 2:

So a lot has happened this week. Let me start with banter and tell you all about it from the beginning of the week. So the first thing that happened this week was we got presents from a company called Forged and Formed. They made this key chain with both Tink and I on it and it's so cute. I don't know how they did it, but we're in this metal key chain Like I don't know if it's engraved or I don't know what it is, but it's really cool, but we're on a keychain. And then they sent an ornament with Tink on it. So Tink was happy because it's just her. She's flying solo on that one. Oh and, by the way, I couldn't wake Tink up again to do this. I don't know, she's been snoozing a lot, she's just on a snooze roll. And it's okay, because I'm not giving up. You know me, I am persistent and don't stop.

Speaker 2:

So what else is going on this week? Oh, my gosh, the Olympics. I've got some pop culture about that, but I love the every minute of the Olympics. I tell human to go away and leave the TV on because that's all. I watch Tink and I sit there all day glued. We don't care what the sport is, we don't care who's playing, we just love it. It's amazing. I absolutely love it.

Speaker 2:

What else happened? Oh yeah, this is really exciting. Tink is so excited. Tink's diamond has arrived, so you will see that going up soon. It's beautiful. You cannot believe this is Tink's hair fur that made this lab-grown diamond. It is sparkles and it's so pretty. It's really amazing and it's very diva and glamorous, just like Tink, and it's from Amada Diamonds. I don't know how they did it. They send videos of how the process was. It's just the coolest thing ever. You check it out. You'll see it going up on social, probably in a couple days. What else happened? Oh yeah, happy Doggist first to all of our adoptive rescue pets out there. So we partnered with North Shore Animal League and there was this whole cute box with this coffee and toys and everything to celebrate the birthday of all rescue dogs on Doggist First. So we did a little stories about that. You probably saw that yesterday, because yesterday was August 1st, which is also known as Doggist 1st. But August 1st is also Taylor Swift Day, if you guys aren't Swifties, just letting you know, hence why Human was putting the song August into all of our content yesterday.

Speaker 2:

We had two auditions, both of us this week, and here's what was busy this morning. I ended up booking a three day shoot next week. I booked video and print campaign for this huge holiday campaign and I can't tell you anything other than I am so excited because I've got three whole days that I'll be shooting next week and it's going to be amazing and it's great to be able to kick off the holidays always in the summertime, because that's when all the jobs get shot. But I just love it because I love Christmas and it just makes me feel extra holiday, like when Tinker I get a booking for Christmas and then it's just like counting down the days until it comes. So I'm so excited about that. That's why human was busy this morning and doing all of the contract and everything for that and that's why she didn't turn on the studio set until she was done. So anyway.

Speaker 2:

So she's out, she's with Tink Snoozing, and here I am, belle flying solo again. Everybody, here we go. So, gosh, I got a lot to tell you guys this week. Gosh, I got a lot to tell you guys this week.

Speaker 2:

Let's, of course, because it is the Olympics, we're going to go with an Olympic story to start the pop culture today. Here it is Simone Biles flashes diamond goat necklace as she wins her sixth Olympic gold medal in Paris. I saw that. I was like, wow, where did she get that? So, after winning the all-around final in the 2024 Paris Olympics, thursday, her second gold of the Games Simone Biles proudly showed off her diamond-encrusted gold necklace for us all to see the videos captured broadcast cameras.

Speaker 2:

The gymnast can be seen beaming with excitement while wearing this sparkling charm. The piece is studded with ready 546 diamonds. How crazy is that? It's beautiful, I mean it's amazing Apparently Beautiful. I mean it's amazing Apparently. According to the designer, biles commissioned the piece herself. It represents her dedication, perseverance and the spirit that has inspired generations. You know, guys, I come to think of it. I think I'm a goat, because I have dedication, perseverance and spirit. So I hope I inspire everyone like she does. But anyway, on with the story. Of course, biles is often referred to as the goat, meaning greatest of all time in women's gymnastics. Having led the Team USA to two team final gold medals and two out of the three last Olympics that she's competed in. Her all-around final win on Thursday marked her ninth Olympic medal, with four of them being gold. She is the most decorated US gymnast of all times, with the team victory on Tuesday. In addition, holding nine Olympic medals, she's also won 30 world championship medals. How?

Speaker 2:

crazy is that. And she's the oldest gymnast. She's 27. It's crazy. She her. She wore a leotard adorned with a sparkling goat in 2021 gymnastics and that stuck, true, her nickname, earning her all-around titles. It's just amazing and I love watching her. I, when she flies 12 feet high in the air, flipping and twisting, I'm just like what the heck? It's crazy, it's amazing. I want to try it. I just want to go to a gym and try it. I bet I could do it. Anyway, on to our next story.

Speaker 2:

Keeping with the gymnastic theme and, of course, the Olympic theme, 11 surprising rules gymnasts must follow at the Olympics. Some of these rules will make you flip. As one of the most anticipated sports to watch in the Olympics, gymnastics draws the eyes of viewers all over the globe due to the intense, gravity-defying maneuvers performed by these athletes. Specifically, simone Biles and the women's gymnastic teams continue to hype the medal-minded momentum for the Paris Games. While exciting to watch, technicalities and scoring can be confusing if not familiar with the sport. Allie Raisman, six-time Olympic medalist and former member of the Fierce Five, recently put together a 101 scoring guide on Instagram and spoke with People magazine exclusively about the little known rules gymnasts must follow, although it's been a few years since Raisman competed in the Olympics. She outlined the rules for everyone to see, so the scores are based on two components execution score and difficulty score. The first category deducts points on errors like steps on landings, falls, flexed feet, bent knees, while the second considers the value in complexity achieved in each skill. Reisman is impressed with them and so proud of all of the team. They're changing the way people view the sport of the gymnastics and showing you you can be in your late 20s and still do what you want to do and can thrive at doing it.

Speaker 2:

From the uniforms athletes must wear to the music requirements on the floor, here are the rules you need to have. They're not allowed to wear certain jewelry. They are allowed to wear makeup, but has to be very limited. They're allowed to wear hand guards and wraps. They are allowed to use honey on the hand. Wow, that's really cool, because you always see them chalking their hands to prevent slipping and sweat, but you can use honey instead. I've never seen anyone put honey on it, but I guess the cameras haven't shown us that. It's really cool. I guess that does make you stick. Floor exercise music cannot exceed 90 seconds, so that's basically a minute and a half of flying fast. It's exhausting. It sounds short time but it's really not.

Speaker 2:

Gymnasts must consider their facial expressions on the floor because it helps with their performance. Gymnasts don't have to have bare feet, which we've seen. Some of the male gymnasts have their feet covered when they're flying around, so I didn't know that it was like optional, but the girls always have their feet covered. Gymnasts must not speak to judges. Mid-competition Gymnasts must point toes to avoid point deductions. They do have nicely pointed feet. I must say it's like dance. They all take dance too. Did you know that Everybody has to have ballet training to do ice skating and gymnastics, anything like that? But even football players take ballet. All right, those are the rules Moving on. This is exciting because it kind of goes with what I was just talking about, about what I'm doing.

Speaker 2:

Next week Mariah Carey is taking her holiday music on the road again. See her dates for her Christmas tour. It's never too early for a Christmas miracle. Mariah Carey just announced today she will be back on the road to spend holiday cheer through her Christmas time tour. She's starting November 6th in California and then she will cross the country, wrapping it up on December 17th in New York City. Oh, maybe I'll get to go be in it. Maybe she needs a pup, maybe I'll get that audition. Wow, that's exciting. This is her 30th anniversary of her album Merry Christmas and it's record breaking single All I Want for Christmas is you, and the pre-sale tickets are starting August 6th and available through Verizon Up. General sales begin August 9th at Live Nation. I'm so excited. I want to see this. So that goes along with my booking next week. It's the dates of her pre-sale for her show, christmas Show Tickets and I'm shooting a Christmas campaign. So Merry Christmas everyone. Happy holidays. Moving on to the next story for pop culture, oh, it's them.

Speaker 2:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were not invited to join the royal family at Balmoral Castle this summer. Shocking, prince Harry and Meghan Markle were snubbed of another invite to Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Well, why do you think they're snubbed? Gee, I wonder. Let's read on, wonder, let's read on. For years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been invited to the Royal Family Summer Gathering in the Scottish Highlands. It's a tradition Queen Elizabeth had of heading to the Balmoral estate during the late summer, but the monarch hasn't included Harry and his family this year, while Prince Harry grew up going to Balmoral. It's believed that Meghan has never visited the royal family's Scottish castle. And guys, let's keep it that way, keep her out.

Speaker 2:

The 50,000-acre estate where Queen Elizabeth passed on September 22 serves as a yearly retreat for the royal family, out of the public eye, where days are filled with outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and horseback riding. It was a life of picnics and paddling around. Margaret Rose, the Queen's cousin, once said so I'm not surprised. Are you surprised? Like, why would they even expect to be invited? I don't understand these people. You're in California, live the USA lifestyle and stay in California, but don't expect, once you pull away from something, to be invited back. You're out, that's it. That's how it goes. Hit the road, pick a hike. So moving on. Now we're going to go to some pop culture, now from the pop culture Moving on to the pop world, and we also got some hen culture here.

Speaker 2:

Like, yeah, like cuckoo, cuckoo Got hen culture going on. Hen eager to welcome chicks loses all her eggs. Then she becomes a mother to 10 puppies. So it's kind of pup culture, but also with hen culture. Here's the story. It's the unexpected story of friendship, motherhood and chosen family, and it all happened on a farm in oklahoma, tracy hale, took to her tiktok to share how, how her hen, harriet, became a mother figure to 10 great Pyrenees puppies.

Speaker 2:

In a multi-part video series, hale narrated the events that followed Harriet's decision to lay her eggs in a doghouse. Soon after the chickens started nesting, hale's dog Lucy, became pregnant, forcing the two pets to share the space as they awaited their respective broods. That must have been funny. As Hale explained in her videos, harry attended steadfastly to her eggs, only moving away from them once a day to get water and food and use the bathroom. Of course, during one of these brief breaks, lucy followed her own instinct and devoured all of Harriet's eggs in a move that sounded like the ultimate act of betrayal, though Hale reassures people that it wasn't as sinister as it all seems.

Speaker 2:

I'm sorry, that's a little sinister. I think You're both sharing, you're both taking care of your pups. Why did you do that? Anyway, I wasn't mad or upset at all, because Lucy has always eaten the chicken eggs. When Harriet got off the nest, lucy just did what any other livestock guardian dog would do, the farm owner explains. Hale also noted that the pregnant dog was trying to consume extra calcium for her growing puppies, hence why she also ate the eggshells. Yuck, I'm sorry, I couldn't. I love food. I could never eat those eggshells. That sounds terrible to me, but I don't even think I could eat the raw egg. Like I just don't get that. I guess, even though I'm from a farm, I'm not a farm dog. I'm sorry, I couldn't do that.

Speaker 2:

Continuing on with the story, they were technically babies. However, these eggs that Harriet had been sitting on were only a day or two old, so they hadn't had a chance to develop. She said on TikTok, which got 20,000 views, I felt sorry for Harriet because she didn't have the eggs to sit on after that. But she still sat there, and I don't know if you know anything about chickens, but they will sit even if they don't have eggs to sit on, however, whenever they are brooding. So she was mad and upset. I get it.

Speaker 2:

Despite the missing eggs, harriet would still experience motherhood soon. She said she watched while Lucy gave birth to 10 puppies in their shared nesting area. After a few weeks, the infant pack of Great Pyrenees began to move and then the hen showed interest in them. She even came to sit on them from time to time as if they were her own. It was about the three-week mark when I knew what she was doing. It took me a while. When they came out of the dog box to eat for the first time, harriet the hen came with them. That's when I knew she was trying to mother them.

Speaker 2:

Harriet tried to show her pseudo-offspring how to eat the food while weaning off feeding of her canine mother. The puppies didn't pay much mind to Harriet's instruction, but the chicken continued to care for them. She offered them her own favorite foods too, like fat worms and juicy bugs, and was hardly discouraged by the dog's rejection. Guys, I'm sorry, I would reject that too, any of you pups out there. If you would eat this fat worms and juicy bugs, you gotta let me know. I just don't understand this delicacy. Anyway, harriet realizes that she will not be able to take these puppies from Lucy, so she's going to choose a co-parenting approach.

Speaker 2:

Hale narrated on TikTok. It provided Lucy with more support. She feels safer leaving the pups with Harriet now. So, anyway, there's all pictures of these pups, which are really getting looking really big now, and this big giant hen sitting on top of all a bunch of them. It's really funny. Go check it out. I just I love how they became an instant family like that and I love how Harriet tended to them. It's a great story, all right.

Speaker 2:

Moving on, a yacht rescue stranded dog found paddling in the Florida Bay over a mile from shore. What the heck Doggy paddling helped a lost canine stay afloat until a rescue yacht arrived. A boat captain and several other Good Samaritans helped Ellie the dog reunite with her family after finding her adrift off the Fort Myers Beach in Florida. It's a mile from shore. The couple on board a dinner cruise on the Sanibel Harbor Princess first spotted Ellie paddling alone in the water. So I wonder if it was dark. This is a dinner cruise. The captain of the dinner cruise yacht was also a retired member of the Coast Guard. Spotted the pup too, they said halfway through the dinner cruise, with the boat taking its usual route towards Sanibel Island, he mingled with the guest while the co-captain drove the yacht.

Speaker 2:

Next thing they knew there was a bunch of commotion on the yacht when guests spotted Ellie in the water roughly a mile and a half off the coast. I looked out the window and sure enough, I saw this little head swimming by out the window, and sure enough I saw this little head swimming by. He said he saw the dog swimming back towards the back of the boat, which is a very dangerous spot for a canine to be near. Oh, this gets tricky and good. So they accurately maneuvered the yacht to rescue Ellie by the swim platform she was paddling towards. They had to clear a spot to grab Ellie out of the water.

Speaker 2:

Once the boat was in position and the dog was just as happy as could be to get out of this water. Yeah, I bet I mean. How long did it take her to swim doggy paddle a mile and a half off of shore? She must have been exhausted Immediately. They got her, gave her food and water on board the boat. She acted very friendly, very happy, despite the conditions of the water she endured. It looks like it was really rough out there in the Gulf. Oh my gosh, she could have been attacked by a shark or something. So the rescue. After they got back to the land they took it to the vet. She had a microchip but it wasn't functioning correctly. One of the boat's crew members volunteered to take the dog home until they found her actual, real family.

Speaker 2:

The news story broke out and the owners ended up seeing the story and were able to get reunited with the dog, but that's the craziest story I've ever heard. Oh my gosh, craziness. Well, I'm glad the dog is okay. I don't know if I mean Tink and I love to swim, but a mile and a half from shore you start on the shore. That's a long time to be in the water. I don't know if we could do it. She's a little bigger than us but she's not a giant dog or anything. Wow, interesting you guys. Anyone live near there and know of this story. Did you see it? Did you hear of it? Let me know my last story a Rottweiler mom and her four puppies rescued after spending days stuck in California's Park Fire.

Speaker 2:

A Rottweiler and her puppies are recovering after being trapped for days in a car left behind the raging park fire in California. Residents in the northern California area of Cohasset were frantically evacuating as the park fire, now considered the sixth largest wildfire in the state's history, tore through Butte County. Wildfire in the state's history tore through Butte County. One of the residents' truck broke down as they were trying to evacuate and they had to leave their car behind with their two adult dogs and the dog's puppies inside the car. Although the owner immediately told firefighters and other authorities where they left the truck. The first responders couldn't access the area right away due to the intense wildfire.

Speaker 2:

Three days later, the search and rescue officer and a helicopter pilot flew into the area to search for the pups and the parents. After landing a mile and a half from the abandoned truck's location, they ran the distance to the vehicle where they miraculously found the mother and all of the puppies still alive, although they were all tired, extremely thirsty. Unfortunately, the puppy's father did not survive. According to the sheriff's office, they fed the dogs a few bites of protein bar, gave them each drink of water and led them back to the helicopter to be transported safely. Trevor hiked to the truck, released the happy canines and played Pied Piper on the way back to the helicopter for the trip to the Medical Care and Emergency Animal Shelter in North Valley Animal Disaster Group. They said this group, they all assisted with the rescue and they shared this news alongside this adorable video of the rat, wild puppers and their moms following him back to the helicopter. It's really cute. I don't know how they survived. They all got back. They're taken care of. They're well adjusted now. But what an amazing rescue. So, sheriff's Office, thank you, congratulations on rescuing those pups. I'm glad they're back to safety. I mean, that's crazy.

Speaker 2:

So we had some amazing stories today, both pop and pop culture. I hope you liked everything. Let's go USA Gymnastics. Sorry to all you listeners from abroad, I know you're rooting for different teams, but we're here in US so we got to go with the US. Let's just check one more thing on our stats to see if we've got some new listeners from abroad or anywhere else. Let's see.

Speaker 2:

So here's some new locations for the week Ready Rottenberg, baden Württemberg, sounds kind of German, I think. Nashville, tennessee Well, we've had them before. I guess they're new because they didn't listen last week. I wonder how that works on this app. We're still United States, followed by Germany, followed by Bosnia, followed by Netherlands, followed by the United Kingdom. So those are all still the tops and of our listening countries, but we've got in there still South Korea, canada, australia and more. So it's very exciting.

Speaker 2:

Thank you all of our listeners from near and far. That's so exciting. I um just love talking to you each week. One day, tink will be back after I can uh get her off her snooze fest, but she's um busy. She is auditioning with me too, but I won this role for the holiday campaign. So take that Tink, but Tink's Nordstrom's and Tavo airline bag that she shot this last campaign is slowly coming out.

Speaker 2:

Some people have spotted her and screenshotted and sent it over like Tink, is this you? Tink is pretty recognizable, I think. I mean there's not many dogs that look like either of us, but yep, that's Tink. So if you see her, spot her, send her over, let us know you spot her, where you spotted her. All that good stuff and happy Olympics. Continued on, and make sure to not just listen but review, download, review like review, subscribe, review and share and review.
